PRODUCTION NOTES
The night goddess is a figure that has been celebrated and feared throughout history. She is often depicted as a beautiful woman with dark hair and pale skin, and she is associated with the moon, stars, and darkness. Goddess of the Night takes us on a journey through the world of the night goddess.In the opening movement, we see the night goddess awakening from her slumber. She rises from the darkness, and her beauty and power are revealed. Symphonie Fantastique, Op. 14 by Hector Berlioz, Noon Witch by Antonín Dvořák, and "Summer," from The Four Seasons by Antonio Vivaldi are all dramatic and exciting pieces of music that perfectly capture the sense of power and majesty of the night goddess.The second movement sees the night goddess on her journey through the night sky. She travels across the stars, and she visits all of the planets. Piano Concerto No. 2 in C Minor, Op. 18: II. Adagio Sostenuto by Sergei Rachmaninoff is beautiful and ethereal, and it perfectly captures the sense of wonder and awe that comes with the night goddess' journey through the night sky.In the closing movement, the night goddess returns to her home in the darkness. She descends from the sky, and she disappears into the night. "Queen of the Night," from The Magic Flute, K. 620 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Symphonie Fantastique perfectly captures the sense of power and majesty of the night goddess.
