The sea has been a source of fascination and wonder for humans since our earliest days. It is a place of beauty and danger, of mystery and adventure. It is a place where people have made their homes, built their empires, and lost their lives.

Fair Winds & Following Seas takes us on a journey across the sea. The music for this show is a mix of classical and popular pieces, all of which evoke the spirit of the sea. We begin with "Sunday Morning," from Benjamin Britten's Four Sea Interludes. This piece is a beautiful and serene meditation on the beauty of the natural world. Next, we hear "Pegasus," by John Wesley Gibson. This piece is a stirring and uplifting fanfare that captures the sense of excitement and adventure that comes with setting sail for new horizons.

We then head out onto the sea with "Coming Home from the Sea," from James Horner's score for The Perfect Storm. This piece is a powerful and moving depiction of the dangers and challenges of life at sea.

The weather slowly starts to change and the seas become rough as "Storm," from Britten's Four Sea Interludes, batters down the band. This piece is a dramatic and suspenseful depiction of a storm at sea. The music builds to a climax of chaos and fury.

"Eternal Father," by John B. Dykes & William Whiting, is a hymn that honors those who have lost their lives at sea. This piece is a beautiful and moving tribute to those who have paid the ultimate price for their love of the sea.

Finally, we set sail for home with "Sogno di Volare," from Christopher Tin's score for Civilization VI. This piece is a triumphant and uplifting anthem that captures the spirit of exploration and discovery. The music builds to a stirring climax as we return home, safe and sound, with the hope of many more voyages to come.

May the winds be always fair and the seas be always calm.
